Because of NACT so I'm coming back to read the gospel of Luke recently, and something points in chapter 12 refresh me a lot. I have enjoyed a lot of points but I'll just highlight something that I didn't consider much before.
1. Concerning anxiety
Many verses in the first half of the chapter mention dealing with anxiety. Verses 30-31 are fresh to me this time. "For all these things the Gentiles of the world are anxiously seeking but your Father knows that you need these things. However, seek His kingdom, and these things shall be added to you".
I am reminded that if I seek the things of the world with anxiety, I will lose my distinctions from the Gentiles. Besides, it will be an insulting to God as if He is a heavenly Father who does not care about His children. Oh, how wonderful for this phrase, "...your Father knows...". Because He cares, we can fully trust in Him and exhaust what we have to "seek His kingdom". Oh Lord, make me a person who seek Your kingdom with absoluteness and with proper aggressiveness.
2. You also, be ready (Luke 12:40a)
So, how much we shall be ready and to what extent shall we make ourselves ready? This is revealed in verse 48b, "But to every one to whom much has been given, much will be required from him; and to whom much has been committed, they will ask of him all the more".
I simply think of how much the Lord has invested in me in many things. He is aiming to cultivate my capacity over quite a number of things, and if I simply take it for granted, it will not work. The Lord has committed (entrusted, deposited) much to me, and He will also ask more from me. With this thought behind, this is how much I shall get myself ready and be watchful and faithful.
Oh Lord, open my eyes and gain me much more so not only will I seek you with proper aggressiveness but also can handle whatever you have entrusted and deposited me with prudence, watchfulness and faithfulness till the end.
