But if the servant
plainly says, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out
free; Then his master shall bring him to God and shall bring him to the door or
to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he
shall serve him forever. (Exo. 21:5-6)
The Lord Jehovah has given me the tongue of the instructed, that I should know how to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens me morning by morning; He awakens my ear to hear as an instructed one. The Lord Jehovah has opened my ear; and I was not rebellious, nor did I turn back. (Isaiah 50:4-5)
Before reading this
message, I was praying to the Lord there must be a change in my study. I've
spent more time in the matter of "study", and if I don't master this,
that won't be beneficial to me, to the Lord, and to the church. I must learn
how to study with the Lord, so in the near future I might be able to help
others gain Christ during study. Therefore, I prayed to Him that may He make my PhD study a service to Him.
But the question will
be, what is service? While I was musing upon this matter, I came across the MR
message for today. Several key words in the verses I quote have been identified.
The tongue of the instructed; sustain the weary with a word, and awaken.
The tongue of the
instructed
Surprisingly, something
related to our service is our tongue. Tongue is related to our speaking, and
this speaking needs to be instructed. As pointed out in Exodus, a servant is
willingly to be bound by his master. Similarly, given the free will, we don't
have to choose to be instructed. But once we do, we're willing to be bond by
this love and be under the instruction of the master.
Sustain the weary with a
word
This ministry helps me
"a word" here means the instant word from God; and sustain the weary
denotes a dispensation. How do we do the service? Oh! We have to deposit the
Word of God within us, and at the appropriate time, we dispense the words to
the ones in need! This is our service.
Awaken
Although I've come
across the verse several times, the word awaken gave me a sense of
sweetness this morning. In a normal situation, no one's gonna wake me up.
Waking up someone has a sense of intimacy. This morning I realised my Lord and
I have such an intimate relationship, how wonderful! This also means that I
need to keep maintaining this relationship day by day because He awakens me
morning by morning.
Dear Lord, may I be a student-servant, who is willing to spend time with you, fellowship with you, and be able to minister the divine life to others! Gain my study today!
