Having been divinely instructed

Now I come back to Matthew for my personl bible study. One thing interesting captured me.

And because they (magi) had been divinely instructed in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed by another way to their country. (Matt. 2:12)

But because he (Joseph) heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there; and having been divinely instructed in a dream, he departed into the regions of Galilee. (Matt. 2:22)

One thing that I don't understand is that the spirit had not come to them yet, how do these people receive divine instruction? I checked the footnotes but there weren't further explanation. However, according to my understanding, magi and Joseph were people who minded the things of God. According to the principle revealed in Luke 11:9 which says,

And I say to you, Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.

That might be why Joseph and magi were divinely instructed by God.

Apart from this, I enjoy the footnote of Matthew 2:12 concerning "they departed by another way", which it says:

"Once we have seen Christ, we never take the same way but always take another way."
Amen, how wonderful!

My prayer

Dear Lord, may I be the one who mind the things of You so You have a way to divinely instruct me in my living, study. and serving. Make me a person who sees Christ and never take the same way but another way which delights You.
